NORMAL SERIES

Stock images, particularly workplace stock images, often act as an ironic mirror to the current capitalistic society. They present team members, never colleagues, happily high-fiving while they serve gender equality and racial diversity. Spring 2020, in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, people wondering when they could return to ‘normal’ rippled across facebook posts, zoom meetings and news broadcasts seemed to cry out for these phantom productions of a normal that never was. In her series, Normal, Keogh paints these stock images. In her ghost-like portrayal the loss of details draws attention to the clear posturing of equality through race, gender and body language.
